Juneau school board member worried about state funding of education

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Among those worried about the state budget picture for next fiscal year and the current year is Juneau School Board member Jeff Short who was a guest on Action Line.

If the proposal contained in Governor Dunleavy's supplemental budget request prevails, the local school district is looking at a reduction of about $800,000 in current year spending.

Short said the actual discretionary authority is on the order of about $5 Million, so carving $800,000 out of that is going to be ugly.  He said they would really have to scramble to cover it.
