Douglas, Alaska (KINY) - A multi-vehicle accident on Thursday sent one person to the hospital to be checked out, and totaled two vehicles.
On June 30 at about 7 p.m., Juneau Police Department received a report of a motor vehicle crash in the 3000 block of Douglas Highway.
Officers arrived on scene and located several crashed vehicles, one which was partially blocking the roadway. The preliminary investigation showed that a grey Toyota Rav was traveling northwest on Douglas Highway, towards the area of the roundabout. The vehicle had been occupied by a 57-year-old female driver and a 47-year-old female passenger.
The Toyota crashed into a silver Ford Focus that was parked alongside the road. The force of the impact caused the Ford to strike a white Chevrolet pickup that was parked in front of it, which caused the pickup to move forward and strike a boat that was also parked on the side of the roadway.
The driver of the Toyota Rav was transported by EMS to Bartlett Regional Hospital for a medical evaluation.
Police said the Toyota and the Ford appear to have sustained totaling damages. The white truck and the boat sustained minor damages.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
