Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Ed King promoted his candidacy to represent Juneau House District 34 in the Mendenhall Valley and out the road while a guest on Action Line.
He's the former state chief economist for the State of Alaska. King said he's been working on the state budget for quite a few years and has been upset about the lack of progress the Legislature has made. He feels he can offer his services and possibly break the political divide and get something done.
The independent candidate is opposing Incumbent Democrat Andi Story for the House 34 seat.
King said he would want to serve with a bipartisan majority in the House.
In addition to fixing the state's finances, King's chief goals include stabilizing the economy; building a transportation plan for Southeast; and resolving the homeless crisis.
King is an Army veteran who served as an infantry team leader at Fort Wainwright for four years and deployed as a combat engineer to Ramadi, Iraq in 2006.
He's a small business owner who operates King Economics Group.
