Hockey Games Cancelled

    JDHS hockey players are shown in action at Treadwell Arena against Kodiak this season. Tonight and Saturday's games against Palmer have been cancelled due to a COVID outbreak at Palmer.

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The puck drops here. Just not tonight, or Saturday. The Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears hockey games scheduled against Railbelt Conference rival Palmer tonight and tomorrow at Treadwell Arena have been cancelled due to a spike of COVID cases in Palmer.

      According to coaches and athletic directors the Palmer Moose will not be arriving in Juneau and the games may be rescheduled. The Crimson Bears are, so far, still scheduled to play Aurora Conference foe Tri-Valley on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at Treadwell Arena.

    • Crimson Bears Fall on Ice to Moose Despite Strong Net Work

      Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé junior hockey goalie Brayden Baxter was a bright star on the Treadwell Arena ice for the Crimson Bears on Tuesday, stopping 33 shots and giving the home team a chance to win. Unfortunately the Crimson Bears could only put 22 shots against the Palmer net and a last minute score gave the Moose a 3-2 sweep.
