Huskies Earn Second Week on Top of Football Polls

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Juneau Huskies earned their second week on top of the Cook Inlet Conference Division I football polls after their 49-12 dismantling of the Service Cougars in Anchorage, one of the first road wins by a traveling team this season.

      The top four spots remained the same this week in the Alaska Sports Broadcasting Network poll with Juneau, East and West all sporting 4-1 records with wins over the weekend and Colony remaining in the fourth spot at 3-2 after losing to East 35-12. West defeated Dimond 35-9.

      Bartlett removed South Anchorage from the fifth spot after the two clashed on Saturday. The Golden Bears are now 3-2 with a 30-22 win over the Wolverines.

      South falls to 1-3, Service is 1-4, and Dimond is 0-4.

      Juneau travels to Bartlett this weekend, East travels across Anchorage to West, Colony hosts Dimond and South travels to the hill side of Anchorage to face Service.

      Cook Inlet Conference scores by ranking include:

      No. 1 Juneau has defeated Service 49-12, East 39-28, Colony 53-12, Dimond 35-6 and lost to West 49-23.

      No. 2 East defeated Colony 50-26, Lathrop 50-26, South 59-22, Service 45-22 and lost to Juneau 39-28.

      No. 3 West defeated Dimond 35-9, Juneau 49-23, Bartlett 33-9, Service 35-6 and lost to South 46-34.

      No. 4 Colony defeated South 34-31, Wasilla 34-14, Bartlett 40-13 and lost to Juneau 53-12 and East 35-12.

      No. 5 Bartlett defeated South 30-22, Palmer 22-15 and Dimond 14-8, and lost to West 33-9 and Colony 40-13.

      No. 6 South defeated West 46-34, and lost to East 59-22, Colony 34-31 and Bartlett 30-22.

      No. 7 Service defeated Dimond 26-20, and lost to East 45-22, West 35-6, Soldotna 48-34 and Juneau 49-12.

      No. 8 Dimond has lost to Juneau 35-6, Bartlett 14-8, Service 26-20 and West 35-9.

      The ASBN poll for DII/III lists their top five as Eagle River 4-0 hosting Soldotna this next weekend,

    Lathrop 3-1 traveling to Kodiak, Soldotna 3-1 traveling to Eagle River, Redington 4-0 hosting Nikiski, and Houston 3-2 traveling to Palmer.

      Eagle River has beaten Wasilla 37-14, Palmer 20-13, Houston 50-0 and Homer 57-0; Lathrop has beaten Soldotna 27-21, Palmer 50-7 and Chugiak 56-0; Soldotna has beaten Service 48-34, Palmer 46-27, and Chugiak 35-0; Redington has beaten Barrow 48-24, Monroe 42-20, Valdez 40-20 and Kenai 68-14; and Houston has beaten Homer 42-0, Kenai 32-2 and Nikiski 58-0.
